Birmingham Knowledge Quarter (BKQ) is a cutting-edge development created in partnership with Aston University, Birmingham City University, Birmingham City Council, Bruntwood Sci-Tech and Woodbourne Group. This £4.2bn, 210ha cluster site is set to be a leading ecosystem for medtech, life sciences and health research in the UK. And naturally, it’s based right in the healthy heart of Birmingham.

Strengthening the city’s expertise in these industries, and creating more than 20,000 jobs, the project also includes a hotel, student accommodation, and potentially a 4,000-home eco-town. It’s also a part of the wider West Midlands Innovation Zone which means BKQ has business rate retention for 25 years on 133ha of the site, and investor incentives on 5.5ha including Full Stamp Duty Land Tax Relief and £25,000 NIC threshold for new employees in the first 3 years.

In addition, there’s £9m to support delivery of connectivity enhancements, including James Watt Queensway Super Crossing and cycling and walking links.
